“I wouldn’t mind watching Benoit Blanc (what a name) solving another mystery if it’s of this caliber.“
Super Duper Stuff, 2019
Good thing Rian Johnson has done it again then isn’t it! Especially as Netflix have Johnson and Co signed up for a third entry.
Glass Onion may not have Chris Evans in a sweater (oh my), but it still has Daniel Craig, and this time he’s rocking an awesome swimsuit. The first film brought back the whodunit and this sequel – whilst perhaps a bit blunter – is still a great time.
The commentary on wealth and power remains, but in a different form. Plus there’s the complete and utter skewering of those who have managed to elevate themselves despite being moronic. So timely.
Shame I didn’t get to see it on the big screen, as it does feel like a big screen film. I’m not sure this one will stick with me as much in terms of overall quality, but I’m looking forward to more. I’d love to see Benoit in a third completely different situation to help me deal with the quite jarring difference in colour tone between the first two entries.
We get a sneak peak into Benoit’s private life too; I’d like more of these snippets please.
I’d be remiss not to spotlight a line of dialogue – “It’s a dangerous thing to mistake speaking without thought for speaking the truth.” Spot on.
