Zootopia 2 Review

Oh my God this film is so woke. What a bunch of snowflakes. Banging on about erasure of culture, appropriation, acceptance of everyone, and learning that differences can make us stronger. It makes me want to throw up.

Oh, hang on. I used the wrong words there. I mean it makes me want to whoop and cheer! Even the worst Disney film will get a billion eyeballs on it: on streaming if not in the cinema. But by this point we already know Zootopia 2 (yes I think of Zootopia before Zootropolis) has made a gagillion dollars. That’s a lot of eyes, young and old, seeing a message of acceptance at a time where if you listen to the news too much, you’d wonder what the hell we’re up too.

As a family we all really enjoyed Zootopia 2, even if the family behind us were idiots. It does all the obvious things with its animation and music. But it also managed to surprise us! Also – and this isn’t a spoiler – Andy Samberg is in a Disney film!!! A few words in and I was looking at my wife mouthing “PERALTA?!”

The last Disney sequel I saw was a complete waste of time, completely failing to make an impression whilst it forgot to tell its own story. I’m happy to say that this sequel is well worth your time. There’s even another catchy Shakira song. With it being as popular as it has been, I’d be surprised if we had to wait another nine years for a third film. Zootopia 2 shows that there can be more stories in this world.
