The Monuments Men Review

An impressive cast tells this true story of a small team on a mission to recover works of art near the end of WW2.

The story is both humorous and dramatic, detailing the team’s great successes and dark losses. Unfortunately it fails to find a balance leading to an uneven tale. Despite the Hollywood inaccuracies all involved should be applauded for forgoing sex and violence and making such an untrendy film.

Clooney is assured behind the camera and the cast do well, so credit where it’s due. But a more focused script could have elevated this from a good film to a great one.
