The Mandalorian and Grogu Review

“…it’s a film for 12 year olds.” George Lucas, Star Wars Celebration 2017

Keep that in mind. Also remember that the creators of these newer characters and this film – Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni – are following in Lucas’s footsteps. So it’s no surprise to confirm that 12 year olds are going to love The Mandalorian and Grogu.

You’re going to hear about people jumping all over the latest Star Wars film with box office numbers and overly critical views. My suggestion would be to ignore all that. Just go see the film and have a good time. If you want “adult” Star Wars, go watch Andor, or perhaps the films that came out when you were twelve. There’s plenty for everyone.

I enjoyed sharing the film with my family, and my daughter in particularly loved it. For me that’s more than enough.

I can pick holes for sure. There are a couple of things that left me scratching my head a bit. But there’s enough here, and so much cool Starfighter imagery, that it’s far from the worst Star War film. For me it sits in the middle.

It’s not trying to reinvent or deconstruct. Putting cool things in place and letting them be cool is cool right? It’s not a bad thing for a film to be fun and endearing.
