The Flash Review

I’m not big on telling people whether to see a film or not. I like to think my words should give you a good idea of how a film made me feel, and maybe work that into a decision.

But in the case of The Flash. I don’t think you should.

Just don’t. Don’t encourage them.

Perhaps you’re curious. I felt as though WB had me trapped. I love Keaton, the Batman of my childhood, and I’d take any chance to see him on the big screen.

But it really wasn’t worth it.

The more I saw the emotion free zone that is Ezra Miller. The ever-present and terrible CGI (not a judgement on the people doing the work). Ben Affleck’s ever worsening Batsuits. It’s not worth your time or money or the anger it might elicit. If you’ve seen all the spoilers on Twitter, you’ve seen all you need to see.

I get talking to Cushing’s family and “him” being in Rogue One. It made sense to the story. But here, we see people exhumed for no good reason other than “look at the thing!”. There’s no heart to it. In fact I’d describe it as ghoulish.

Around the 3/4 mark I considered leaving the cinema. I never do this! But that it even crossed my mind says a lot.

The DCEU has been a mess from the start. There are parts I’ve liked, but even they’ve been mishandled or tainted. The Flash is a perfect encapsulation of everything that is wrong with nostalgia and universe building. A a fitting end to the DCEU.
