I nearly broke my cardinal rule regarding films and turned off Hardcore Henry.
Not because of the quality of the film (not great) but because of the first person point of view making me feel a bit sick.
Eventually I seemed to settle into it but I think there’s a reason they aren’t very common.
Hardcore Henry is essentially a video game without the control. How it unfolds and the way things are explained feels like a ropey COD clone. The perspective makes the gore quite unsettling at times as you’re so directly involved in it.
Technically impressive but very hollow. As far as ‘film FPS’ goes, I’ll stick to the section in DOOM.
