Frustratingly close to being a great movie, Hugh Jackman returns for his sixth turn as the titular mutant.
After shunning civilisation following the events of The Last Stand, Logan’s presence is requested in Japan. Here he comes into contact with his past, whilst he questions what his future will hold. Can he reconcile what he’s been through and what he is?
The locale and cast are striking, with Jackman in fine form. I dread to think how much water he didn’t drink to get so vascular!
Sadly the film loses its conviction and transforms from an introspective piece to typical CGI Hollywood fare. Though a few changes could have improved it greatly it’s a far more deserving treatment of the character than X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
