The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Review

Mockingjay Part 1 owes its predecessors a lot. The ground work laid down by the previous two films allows this one to move on from the trappings of the games. In doing so it’s the best one yet.

Since the second film and Katniss’s defiance, the marvelously evil President Snow has ravaged the world. Panem has taken a definite shift, and the sometimes documentary feel of the film captures it well. Katniss’s role feels like a natural progression amongst all this.

I do miss Tucci’s manic grin but there is levity to be found. It’s lacking in action but the character interactions more than make up for it.
