I’ve watched a lot of tat so far in 2025. Middle of the road down to outright awful content driven garbage. Sometimes I need to stop chasing an easy watch!
So it’s made a nice change to get into the cinema and watch something I’m genuinely looking forward to. Nine years ago I enjoyed The Accountant. It got a little muddled but I found someone to root for. It sat well with me overall, which was confirmed by a recent rewatch.
As I think back over the sequel, I realise that everyone involved seemed to feel the same way I do. That whilst there’s some decent action (I do appreciate seeing some Taran hardware), this story is really about human interaction. Especially brothers. Because guys…John Bernthal!
John Bernthal really vibes with Daredevils doesn’t he? I think highly of him anyway, but I love his interactions with Charlie Cox’s DD. And here you can tell that he and Affleck are vibing hard. Some chemistry just seeps through the screen. Whether they’re bantering or sick of each other the brotherly relationship is clear, and it makes the film. Neither of them wants to be alone, but in their own ways don’t understand how to let people in. Watching that shift is cool.
My assumption is that with such a a big gap between the first two films, that if this one does OK they’ll get to a third pretty quickly. I’m all for it.
