Upon watching Netflix’s latest star vehicle I felt OK. The film was fine, though I was disappointed having only recently seen Joseph Kosinki’s last film – Top Gun: Maverick.
Admittedly that’s a high bar to meet again, and Spiderhead is a very different film. Teller brings a lot to his role, whilst Hemsworth was almost comically one note (you can only do so much with a script). Satisfied that I’d seen an OK film, I did what I always do and headed to the Wikipedia page. There I discovered that the film was based on the short story “Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders.
So I went ahead and read about that.
They should have stuck to the original story.
