Sliding Doors Review

Life can work in odd ways. For instance, many moons ago my wife found an old phone. It had charge and it had credit. It also had my number on it. A group text later and we were back in touch after six years. Now we’re married with a little one. If just one of those things hadn’t been in place, things would be extremely different now.

It’s the butterfly effect. But this is a very different film.

Sliding Doors takes this idea and shows us the results of such a simple thing – missing a train.

Strip away the conceit of different timelines and it’s a romance. That same conceit gives it’s a little something extra, but the basics are all done nicely. It’s thoughtfully made, with a Brit cast that nails our eccentricities.

Hannah is charming, whilst Paltrow provides a believable portrayal that brings both stories together into a decent whole.
