See How They Run Review

I did wonder if seeing another Whodunit around the time I watched Glass Onion would be a good idea. It’s pretty good after all.

I needn’t have worried, as See How They Run is a very different kind of story within the same genre. For starters it’s a period set, set in the fifties. It’s also what I’d describe as a “romp”, springing along with a wink. Finally, it has Sam Rockwell. Even if his accent is a little bumpy at times, I love the guy.

That wink is used to good effect, giving everyone a chance to enjoy themselves. Saoirse Ronan is particularly charming, her naivety and earnestness balancing out the more stoic Rockwell nicely. Overall the film doesn’t take itself seriously which suits it well.

I said I would, so I have to mention that my wife did figure out the identity of the killer/s about two thirds through. I’m consistently surprised by surprised or mysteries in any film, so I was nowhere near!

A very pleasant night’s viewing overall.
