Safe House. There are definitely some thoughts to share. I think. Hm. It has managed to wangle it’s way into an elite group of films that leave me completely cold. There we go, I said a thing.
This was back in 2012, so perhaps I should have expected something completely vanilla from Reynolds. But then I think about it and he’s done done stuff like Buried and Voices. So Reynolds…wtf? Even weirder is how it managed to entice people like Denzel Washington and Brendan Gleeson. Bills to pay I guess.
The action scenes and camera are far too busy. Denzel’s sleepwalking. The twists are signposted a mile away. Safe House takes a non story and spends nearly two hours desperately trying to make something interesting out of it. Don’t bother with it unless you fancy getting to sleep.
