Too adult for youngsters yet lacking the drama or action to make it appeal to anyone older, this plucky Brit film has its heart in the right place but ultimately isn’t interesting enough.
Granted, it does pretty well on the FX for it’s no doubt modest budget. But perhaps it shouldn’t have wasted money on well-known stars who don’t add anything bar distractions.
The kids are plucky and suitably good looking and it’s brisk. Sadly Robot Overlords doesn’t live up to its campy old-school title with a generally forgettable story.
