100 Word Review – Red Dawn

I get why Red Dawn was remade. With its premise and clearly patriotic tones it’s well suited to play on audiences current fears.

There are some good action scenes, with the guerrilla tactics used by the youngsters both effective and exciting to watch. The small scope hinders the film though, rarely looking beyond Spokane at the larger invasion of the US.

With plot holes you could drive a tank through, an odd structure that leaves possibly the most interesting parts of the story untouched and an abrupt ending Red Dawn is an OK watch that won’t linger in the memory.
