Mixing a formulaic story with crudeness doesn’t sound ground-breaking. Fortunately, Pitch Perfect’s characters, dialogue and music pitches things…well…perfectly. I’m not apologising for that.
Kendrick’s journey through the film mirrored my own, with her realisation that she really cares about these people. The biggest surprise is that Rebel Wilson didn’t make me want to smash my TV through a window. I will admit that the whole ‘fat’ thing does wear a little thin though.
I’m guilty of prematurely judging films I consider ‘girly’ poorly, but this isn’t one;. it’s just a group of characters I enjoyed being with.
I’ve now seen this film roughly one million times and it’s always good fun. Pitch Perfect indeed.
