When I first saw Pitch Perfect 2 I thought it was good, but not at the same level as the first film.
Many rewatches since have proven me wrong.
PP2 gives us more of what was great in the first film. And once again the final performance doesn’t quite live up to the songs through the story.
However! There’s something that the original did not have, and that’s Das Sound Machine. They’re banter, and more importantly their cover of Muse song, elevates everything.
It ticks all the boxes of its predecessor with some fantastic performances and a series of perhaps crude but amusing statements and non sequiturs. My wife and I love it. I’m sure there will be many more watches.
