Moon Review

I should never have put off watching this one. Sam Rockwell’s simply named Sam is kept company by computer system GERTY. He’s on his way home after three years isolated on the moon, but a series of hallucinations lead to an extremely troubling final two weeks.

The inspiration from 70’s/80’s sci-fi is strong, giving the lunar station setting a sterile yet haunting feel. This hasn’t been made a on a big budget, but you couldn’t tell to look at it. A tremendous amount is achieved, yet this would be for nought were it not for Rockwell’s performance.

As with most things now, it’s a shame Spacey is involved, despite him doing a good job here. Raising many interesting, existential questions, Moon is best viewed going in blind. It will be worth it.
