In this reboot of the dormant series Chris Pine is well cast as an ex-marine with brains and some brawn.
Problem is, it adds nothing to what Bond and Bourne are already giving us. Its biggest fault is that despite the huge threat posed it doesn’t pull you in and make you care in any way. The story is so neatly wrapped up it left me wondering what the point was.
Nothing really changes.
I prefered Branagh’s Russian accent to his unspectacular direction. Having slept on it I woke to find that Shadow Recruit left no real impression on me. It’s average incarnate.
