Funny to think that I now watch Infinity Saga films for a hit of “the good old days”.
What once were exciting things to see in the cinema are now comfortable evenings indoors. Moments that were poured over and dissected by millions are now “heh that’s cool”. And what may have once been something that bothered me or just felt like rushing towards a team up now just feels natural and entertaining. And frankly less convoluted.
So whilst at the time Iron Man 2 paled next to it’s predecessor, now I watch a fun film that opens up Tony Stark’s world a bit more whilst having one of the coolest fights in the MCU.
Clank clank. When there are two Iron Man suits charging about with some solid banter, and one has a minigun on it’s shoulder, any clumsiness around their enemy being them in a bigger suit doesn’t matter so much. Add in an inept rival in the form of Sam Rockwell and you’ve got a fun film.
This gif alone is really all we need though isn’t it? Look at it! The oil and the guns and the lean in. That’s the stuff.
It just doesn’t matter if it feels like a prequel to The Avengers now.
