When they’re at their best Pixar can make the mundane fascinating and heartfelt. Inside Out is fundamentally relatable. It may be based around a young girl but the story encompasses everyone. It takes a great deal of thought, research, and feeling to convey humanity (and even animals) so well.
For a film concentrating on the head Inside Out has a tonne of heart. From Riley’s outburts at the dinner table, to a startled boy’s love at first sight, the film balanced my emotions extremely well.
And Bing Bong, you got me good.
So often nowadays we look at social media and wonder “what the hell are they thinking?” Perhaps we should think about who is in the driving seat of our emotional console. Everyone is different, with their own beliefs, passions and insecurities. Maybe we should think about who is at their console too?
