Fast 5 Review

Fast-Five-movie-image-Vin-Diesel

NOTE – Revisiting this review is a really weird experience for me. I’ve gained far more affection for this franchise in the last few years. There is a now documented love for the second entry and how the work ‘Bro’ is used. Perhaps I should re-write this?

Rubbish dialogue balanced out by several very cool and exciting action sequences. Fast Five is only really worth watching when either Diesel or Johnson are on screen. Coincidentally, the best part of the film is the fight between the two. I know this is ‘just’ an action film, but it’s painfully obvious. It uses every ‘one last job’ cliché in the book. I’m not sure how much was real, but the final chase, making inventive use of a safe, is impressive and exciting.

It’s probably the second best entry in the series, after the first film, and has already ensured itself a sequel which is well under-way. Hopefully the next installment can keep the excitement of the action, but use a bit more originality to keep my interest when engines aren’t roaring or punches aren’t being thrown.
