Neill Blomkamp films consist of three things –
- Sharlto Copley
- Impressive visual effects
- Class divide as a theme
Having seen District 9 and Chappie, Elysium held no surprises. Visually it’s great, but it asks a lot of questions and offers no answers.
It’s a gorier affair than I expected, but I guess when you have a healing machine you want to show it off?
A kind person would proffer that Jodie Foster was aiming to reflect Elysium’s mixed culture with an amalgamation of accents. I’m not kind; she’s all over the place and it’s extremely distracting.
Ultimately Elysium is obvious and dull.
