100 Word Review – The Great Wall

The Great Wall

100 word review from my brother John!

The Great Wall is best described as a mishmash of The Last Samurai and Starship Troopers. The positives – large scale action, visual effects, and impressive costumes – barely distracted me from the predictable story and several poor one liners.

The film feels rushed despite being 148 minutes long yet the action scenes are cut frustratingly short, making way for a boring and pointless side story which adds nothing. The biggest problem however is Matt Damon’s accent. Is he English? Scottish? American? All of the above?

If I ever see The Great Wall again it will be the real thing and not this film.
