My hatred of the previous collaboration between McCarthy and Feig, Bridesmaids, nearly stopped me from giving Spy a watch. I’m glad I gave it a chance.
I need to tell you that Statham is absolute gold in his role as an overconfident and possibly full of shit spy. His comic delivery is perfection and quote worthy. Get this man in more comedies!
McCarthy, Byrne and Law are all funny too, with Miranda being the only annoyance. There are some decent action scenes too. Spy could have done with another pass by an editor, being too indulgent at two hours, but I was pleasantly surprised.
