I get why people are making a fuss about The Revenant. It’s both brutal and beautiful, with several stunning scenes shot in single takes. It’s easy to get caught up.
However, like Birdman last year, it seems like a film that’s mainly great for chasing Oscars.
DiCaprio was better in Wolf Street
Did it need to be that gruesome?
Hardy mumbled far too much.
It’s a fantastically made film, but it didn’t wow me. I’d love to see Leo win the Oscar, but despite his committed performance I think he’s already made the films he should have won one for.
